T-shirt scarf! Just cut slits, then stretch. Super duper easy. Also, this DIY was freeee! Everything’s better when it’s free, right?
I stumbled upon this DIY tutorial a couple weeks ago and, upon realizing that I already had all the necessary ingredients, decided to give it a whirl! These yella sneakers have been languishing in my closet, unworn, for more than three years, but if you DON’T already own a pair of garish Vans, you can usually find some at Target or Walmart on the cheap. The yellow worked ok, but if you’re buying new I would stick with white.
You will need: Sneakers (duh), glitter in the color of your choice, Mod Podge (I got mine from Michael’s), masking or painter’s tape, rhinestones, adhesive for rhinestones (I started with superglue, but….more on that later.) a paintbrush, and a disposable bowl.

Step 1: Cover the toes and rubber sides of your sneaks with tape so they don’t get glitter’d.

Step 2: Mix your Mod Podge and glitter in your bowl. You want there to be enough glitter mixed in so that it’s pretty thick, but not clumpy. I made the first batch too thin, and therefore had to apply like 4 layers to cover the yellow splotches.
Step 3: Slather it on. No rules. It’ll be white at first, but it dries clear. Watch out for clumps and wait for it to dry between layers! 3 or less layers should do the trick- too much Mod Podge=really stiff shoes.
Step 4: When your shoes are completely dry, remove the tape. The Mod Podge peels off really nicely from the grommets and soles if you were messy like I was.

Step 5: Glue on your rhinestones! I have an everlasting love for superglue, but recently I’ve been having an affair with hot glue. I tried superglue at first but it was a really runny liquid kind that I don’t like, so I switched to hot glue. Again, no rules. The placement of my sparkles ended up being pretty random, but I kinda like that.

Step 6: Parade around in your fabulous sparkle sneakers!

One day as I strolled through Dillard’s I spotted these beautiful, beautiful shoes. I was saddened when I saw that they were QUITE out of my price range, but then inspiration struck: why not make them? A trip to Michael’s afforded me $1 packs of studs and $2 rhinestones, and I already owned the pair of pumps. An hour and a lot of superglue later, I had these beauties.
